Sales Development Representative I Job Details | Lumen Technologies

Lumen is a telecommunications and technology company providing secure, high-performance connectivity across cloud, edge, and AI workloads. The Sales Development Representative I will generate qualified sales opportunities through multi-channel prospecting, engage business and technology leaders, conduct discovery conversations, and connect customer needs with Lumen solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Execute multi-channel prospecting campaigns through phone, email, and approved outreach channels to engage prospective customers and generate qualified opportunities
• Complete a standard requirement of 75 outbound calls per day while effectively managing a high-volume, task-oriented workflow
• Engage IT decision-makers at mid-market and large enterprise organizations and conduct discovery conversations using BANT qualification and an outcome-based sales approach
• Lead meaningful customer conversations, respond to objections, and identify opportunities to connect business challenges with Lumen solutions
• Schedule qualified meetings and coordinate a seamless transition to the sales account team
• Partner closely with sales account teams to support customer engagement, business priorities, and opportunity progression
• Develop knowledge of Lumen’s networking, cloud, security, telecommunications, and AI solutions and communicate customer-focused value propositions
• Maintain accurate customer activity, opportunity details, and next steps in Salesforce

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or two or more years of experience in sales, lead generation, customer engagement, business development, or a call center environment
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to manage conversations and respond effectively to objections
• Demonstrated ability to organize and execute a high volume of daily activities while remaining focused and accountable to performance expectations
• Ability to learn quickly, apply feedback, and thrive in a structured, goal-oriented environment
• Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform, along with Microsoft Office applications
• Curiosity about technology and an interest in learning about networking, cloud, security, telecommunications, and AI solutions

• Experience conducting outbound prospecting, lead generation, or customer outreach activities
• Experience in sales, business development, retail, hospitality, recruiting, or another customer-facing environment
• Ability to communicate customer-focused value propositions, navigate objections, and build productive business conversations
• Familiarity with networking, cloud, cybersecurity, telecommunications, or AI-related solutions
• Experience engaging business or technology decision-makers
• Exposure to outcome selling, discovery conversations, or opportunity qualification methodologies
• Strong motivation to build a long-term career in technology sales
• A highly organized, resilient, and action-oriented approach to completing tactical work in a high-volume environment
