Dahl Consulting is hiring on behalf of a well-established regional property and casualty insurance carrier with a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic. The Broker Relations Business Development Manager will lead growth efforts in the Maryland and Delaware territory by expanding and managing relationships with commercial insurance brokers and agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and recommend new commercial lines distribution partners based on existing broker relationships
- Conduct regular meetings with agencies/brokers to pursue new business opportunities
- Present proposals and renewal strategies to agency partners
- Collaborate with underwriting to ensure competitive pricing and product offerings
- Lead annual territory planning and monitor performance
- Support onboarding and contracting of new agencies/brokers
- Maintain accurate agency/broker profiles and documentation
- Represent the company at industry events, chamber functions, and corporate initiatives
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial insurance, specifically in sales, marketing, production underwriting, or broker relationship management
- Strong network of commercial brokers/agencies in the Maryland/Delaware market
- Proven success in selling standard commercial lines products
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Active producer license or willingness to obtain one within a defined timeframe
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Prior experience working for a commercial insurance carrier (State Farm experience not aligned)
- Background in commercial underwriting with broker relationship management
- Familiarity with exclusive distribution models and territory planning
