Apex Infrastructure Consultants is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to oversee electrical system upgrades and retrofits after construction completion. This role involves managing complex electrical infrastructure projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical upgrade and retrofit projects from conception through execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and operational requirements
- Develop project plans, identify critical milestones, and ensure alignment across design, post-construction modifications, and commissioning teams
- Monitor progress, assess risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project schedules and quality
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, facilities, and engineering, to drive project success
- Oversee the work of external design and construction teams, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and project goals
- Establish and maintain program metrics to track performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Ensure proper documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and commissioning reports, to support long-term system reliability and maintainability
- Manage escalations, resolve technical challenges, and proactively remove roadblocks that impact project delivery
- Lead stakeholder communications, including executive-level reporting and technical presentations
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to enhance program effectiveness
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7-10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on power distribution, critical systems, and infrastructure projects
- Hands-on experience with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems in large-scale or high-reliability environments
- Deep understanding of power distribution, backup power systems, and electrical protection schemes
- Proficiency with industry standards, such as NEC, IEEE, and NFPA, and ability to ensure compliance in all designs
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex electrical designs and identify potential issues before they arise
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, balancing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Experience with managing budgets, schedules, and contractor performance to deliver projects on time and within scope
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable navigating ambiguous situations while driving structured solutions
