About this role
Role Overview
Manage the daily operations of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Coordinate vehicle inspections, repairs, and warranty work with internal technicians and external vendors.
Monitor fleet performance, utilization, fuel consumption, and operating costs.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and environmental requirements where applicable.
Maintain accurate records for vehicle registrations, titles, insurance, permits, inspections, and maintenance history.
Oversee vehicle acquisition, replacement, disposal, and asset lifecycle management.
Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors, repair facilities, leasing companies, and fuel providers.
Monitor driver qualifications, licensing, training, and compliance with company safety policies.
Investigate vehicle accidents and coordinate insurance claims and corrective actions.
Develop and enforce fleet policies and procedures.
Prepare reports and analyze fleet metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
Manage fleet budgets and recommend capital expenditures.
Handle the coordination of after-hours support as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3–5 years of fleet management or transportation management experience.
Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets preferred.
Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair practices.
Understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and vehicle safety standards.
Experience with fleet management software and GPS/telematics systems.
Strong analytical and budgeting skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and service providers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Ability to analyze reports and make data-driven decisions.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
