Lead, mentor and develop account managers and supervisors.
Establish team goals, performance metrics and capacity plans aligned with business objectives.
Drive a culture of accountability, quality and continuous improvement.
Oversee end to end underwriting support operations new business set up, policy issuance, renewals and endorsements.
Ensure consistent application of procedures, workflows and best practices.
Manage volume fluctuations and resource allocation to support underwriting demand.
Own quality management processes, including audits, remediation and reporting.
Ensure regulatory compliance, internal controls and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Lead process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy and customer experience.
Partner with technology and underwriting teams on system upgrades, automation and data initiatives.
Analyze KPIs and performance data metric trends to inform decisions and improvements.
Serve as a key operational partner to underwriting leadership.
Communicate performance, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Collaborate to support product growth and operational initiatives.
Support budget planning, forecasting and vendor or outsourcing strategies as applicable.
Optimize staffing models and leverage tools/automation to manage costs and scale operations.
Requirements
Associate’s degree
5+ years of underwriting or insurance operations experience
3+ years of people management experience, managing supervisors or a large team
Strategic mindset with hands-on operational expertise
Strong leadership and change management capabilities
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Project and process management skills
Deep understanding of underwriting workflows and insurance systems
Excellent executive level communication and stakeholder management skills
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the above requirements
