Role Overview
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for: Individuals (Form 1040), C-Corporations (Form 1120), S-Corporations (Form 1120S), Partnerships (Form 1065)
- Work with a variety of operating businesses across different industries
- Handle entities that may include real estate holdings and depreciation schedules, but are not predominantly real estate-focused
- Manage the tax return process from initial document request through draft completion
- Request, collect, and organize client documentation needed to fully prepare returns
- Communicate directly with clients to clarify open items and resolve issues
- Set up and coordinate client calls as needed
- Ensure returns are complete, organized, and ready for Tax Senior review
- Track open items and follow up proactively with clients
- Assist with extensions, projections, and year-round tax matters as needed
- Support the team throughout the year, not just during tax season
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a U.S. public accounting firm
- Strong experience preparing both individual and business tax returns
- Experience with Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065
- Solid understanding of federal and multi-state tax compliance
- Experience with depreciation and business-related tax issues
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote setting
- Familiarity with U.S. tax preparation software and document management systems
