Project Designer, Civil/Structural

CoVolt Power is hiring a Project Designer, Civil/Structural to design low-, high-, and extra-high-voltage electrical power systems, with an emphasis on transmission and distribution substations. The role creates and maintains substation design drawings, reviews peers’ work, and supports field updates, mentoring, and design standards.

Responsibilities:

• Create and revise design drawings of high voltage transmission and distribution substations including:
• Site plans
• Foundation plans and details
• Structural Steel plans and fabrication details
• Peer review of other’s drawings
• Maintain drawing files – archived, current and working revisions
• Update drawings to field as-built conditions
• Teach and mentor young designers and/or new employees on civil/structural design and company practices
• Participate in the development and review of company standards and design tools to optimize design applications
• Provide project support/office support as required
• Occasional travel to field sites or working at a client’s office may be required

Requirements:

• 5+ Years' Experience in Design of Transmission Level Substations (13.8kV – 500 kV)
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work well with others in a team setting
• Skilled in problem solving in time-sensitive situations
• AutoCAD (2015 or later) – Advanced, required
• Microsoft Word – Intermediate
• Microsoft Excel – Intermediate
• Microsoft Outlook – Intermediate
• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology preferred, but not required
• MicroStation – Advanced/Intermediate, preferred
