Sales and Business Development Manager

No Starch Press is hiring a Sales and Business Development Manager to develop new business outside traditional publishing channels. The role focuses on finding new accounts, building customer relationships, developing sales and partnership opportunities, and helping grow the company’s foreign-rights business.

Responsibilities:

• Find and develop new accounts and sales opportunities
• Build relationships with corporate, educational, institutional, and specialty customers
• Develop bulk sales, custom publishing projects, and partnerships
• Research potential customers, make contact, and follow up
• Build and maintain a sales pipeline and track results
• Work with editorial and marketing to identify books and subjects with additional sales potential
• Help develop our foreign-rights business
• Determine which opportunities are worth pursuing and which aren't

Requirements:

• someone who has demonstrated an ability to develop business, not just manage existing accounts
• You should be comfortable prospecting, approaching potential customers, developing relationships, negotiating deals, and following through
• You need to be organized, persistent, and able to work independently
• you should have an interest in technology and be willing to learn about what we publish
• Applicants must live in one of the following states: CA, GA, IL, MD, ME, MO, NY, OH, OR, WA
• Experience in publishing sales, special sales, rights, or educational sales would be useful
