Product Manager-Engineering

MWI Veterinary Supply Company is hiring a Product Manager-Engineering to guide Pro Control and Pro Control Batcher software and system capabilities for feed mill operations. The role owns product direction and requirements, coordinates delivery across customer-facing and technical teams, and supports system audits, optimization, troubleshooting, and customer operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develops and maintains product roadmaps for assigned products or capabilities in alignment with business strategy, customer needs, and regulatory requirements
• Translates business objectives, user feedback, and market insights into product requirements, feature priorities, and success measures
• Analyzes product performance, adoption trends, and key performance indicators to assess value realization and recommend product improvements
• Partners with business, technology, and design stakeholders to support solution design, feature delivery, and user experience improvements across the product life cycle
• Conducts market and competitive research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and risks that influence product direction and differentiation
• Performs development of business cases, product positioning content, and internal communications that articulate product value and roadmap priorities
• Contributes to prioritization of product initiatives and enhancement requests to ensure resources are focused on high-value outcomes
• Own product direction for Pro Control and Pro Control Batcher
• Develop, maintain, and communicate an 18-month product roadmap aligned to customer needs, operational priorities, and business goals
• Evaluate opportunities for product enhancement, feature expansion, system optimization, and innovation
• Identify and recommend opportunities to apply Artificial Intelligence, analytics, and automation to improve system performance and decision-making
• Gather, define, and document business, functional, and system requirements
• Create user stories, feature definitions, workflows, and acceptance criteria for development
• Prioritize the product backlog based on customer impact, strategic value, technical feasibility, and urgency
• Partner with development teams throughout design, build, test, and release activities
• Work directly with customers to understand operating environments, pain points, and opportunities for improvement
• Support solution design that helps customers improve efficiency, throughput, reliability, and system performance
• Conduct audits of existing systems to ensure software settings, system configurations, and integrated processes are functioning correctly
• Recommend corrective actions, enhancements, or optimization opportunities based on audit findings and operational observations
• Coordinate closely with software, support, hardware, and implementation teams to ensure alignment on product needs and delivery expectations
• Ensure support teams and hardware teams receive clear requirements and timely communication from software initiatives
• Serve as a central point of coordination for product-related questions, requirements clarification, and field feedback
• Apply working knowledge of feed mill operations, industrial controls, and integrated equipment in support of product decisions
• Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution related to software-controlled processes and equipment integration
• Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule to support customer needs in a 24/7 operating environment
• Travel approximately 30%–40% to support customer visits, audits, implementation efforts, and internal coordination

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Technology, Automation, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Experience in feed mill operations, batching systems, industrial automation, or related manufacturing environments
• Demonstrated understanding of PLCs, automation logic, and software-controlled industrial processes
• Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in production or process environments
• Experience gathering, documenting, and translating customer or business needs into product or system requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functions
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, information systems, health sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience required
• 4+ years of experience in product management, product operations, business analysis, digital solutions, or a related field required
• Ability to influence change across a wide variety of functions and roles
• Skilled professional knowledge of product management
• Strong strategic and tactical thinking, with sound business acumen and critical thinking in complex environments
• Creative mindset with a strong big-picture perspective
• Knowledge of life sciences, drug managed care processes, market access, and payer and healthcare decision-maker needs
• Product management capabilities, including conducting market research, validating new products and services, developing product roadmaps, and defining product requirements

• Understanding of software development life cycles and Agile methodologies
• Ability to assess, design, and implement technology solutions
• Knowledge of financial systems and tools, including Enterprise Performance Management, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, AI/ML, Power BI, and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to build roadmaps and logically sequence recommendations while accounting for parallel and dependent initiatives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights

• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, predictive analytics, or advanced automation technologies in industrial applications
• Experience supporting customer-facing technical solutions in field environments
• Certification in agile methodologies, lean, product management, or pragmatic marketing preferred
• Familiarity with Salesforce in an Agile environment is an asset
