Staff Software Engineer

HelixIntel develops facility management and predictive risk management software that helps maintenance teams stay organized and helps insurance partners reduce risk. The Staff Software Engineer will design and develop CMMS and future product components, lead features from concept through production, and help shape engineering practices while collaborating on code reviews, issue triage, and work planning.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop components of our Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and future products
• Lead the creation of features from zero to production
• Review upcoming features for feasibility and sizing
• Proactively identify, prioritize, and resolve technical debt or inefficiencies
• Help to shape the future of our department by establishing patterns and taking on new responsibilities as we grow
• Participate in code reviews since no one works alone
• Triage issues from users
• Organize plans and sequences for work to be done that you or others may complete
• Participate in a team lunch and in-person meeting one day a week

Requirements:

• 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience or equivalent
• Experience with programming in Python and JavaScript preferred, but we can help with learning the language details if you have been using something else
• Experience with a modern client-side web framework preferred, we use Vue
• Experience with a server-side web framework is preferred, we use Django
• Experience with relational databases preferred, we use PostgreSQL
• Experience with cloud platforms preferred, we use AWS
• Experience writing unit tests
• Experience with build & deployment automation, we use CircleCI
• Experience with version control systems, we use Git
