Staff Software Engineer

Bloc Recruitment is recruiting for an AI-native fintech startup building autonomous software for small business bookkeeping. The Staff or Principal Software Engineer will help architect the platform, build production AI agents, own financial integrations and ledger infrastructure, and ship full-stack TypeScript/Next.js applications.

Responsibilities:

• Build AI agents that autonomously run end-to-end bookkeeping workflows for SMBs
• Own integrations with Ramp, Brex, Gusto — scoping through production, no handoffs
• Architect an accounting ledger from scratch — the core financial data infrastructure
• Ship daily in TypeScript/Next.js, full stack (60% frontend, 40% backend)
• Talk directly to test customers and partners you drive the product, not a spec doc

Requirements:

• → 5+ years hands-on software engineering
• → Deep TypeScript/Next.js fluency across the full stack
• → Real experience building with LLMs/AI agents in production
• → Comfortable owning ambiguous problems with minimal direction
• → Ready for high-intensity, high-ownership founding-team pace
• 3 Stage interview process, with an optional paid work trial
