Project Manager - Acquisition Integration

H&R Block is a tax services company focused on providing help and inspiring confidence in clients and communities through human expertise and digital innovation. The Project Manager – Acquisition Integration supports the end-to-end onboarding of acquired offices, coordinating due diligence, integration planning, training, compliance, and operational readiness. The role provides remote and on-site support, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and travels extensively to address integration needs.

Responsibilities:

• Travel to newly acquired office(s) to complete initial onboarding, training and integration while serving as the primary point of contact for integration support during first 60 days
• Attend cross-functional pre-deal meetings and work with respective department leadership to ensure integration plans are sound and will be successful
• Execute against the new office 60 day integration plan while controlling and reporting on scope, schedule, quality, costs, resources and risks
• Prepare and execute plans for quality, change control and communications
• Own overall responsibility for the success of assigned projects
• Educate staff on company policies, compliance standards, and operational procedures
• Conduct scheduled weekly conference calls with office leadership and staff following initial integration assignment, shifting to monthly follow-up sessions for the following 8 months and quarterly for year 2 of transition
• Perform in-person post-acquisition follow-up visits as needed for the first two calendar years post-close to reinforce training and address ongoing needs. A minimum of one visit during tax season and one during preseason each year for each acquired office
• Collaborate with internal departments (P&C, IT, Finance) to ensure continued alignment and support for the acquired office
• As needed, support organizational pilot programs, cross-office operational needs, and post-acquisition integration efforts in existing network

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group; ability to lead in a matrix environment and at a distance (virtually)
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group as a member of a team
• Demonstrated decision making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated effectiveness in presenting complex information to multiple organizational levels, with strong facilitation and presentation skills
• 3 years minimum related work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and product planning tools
• Familiarity with Project Management methodologies
• Track record of establishing priorities and deadlines
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75% during peak acquisition periods)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with proprietary or industry-specific software systems
• Experience in a consulting environment
• Familiarity with compliance (regulatory, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), etc.) and governance issues
• PMP certification, or equivalent, or completed work towards PMP certification, or equivalent
• Some tax or financial background
• 2+ years of experience in training, operations, or integration roles, preferably in a multi-location or acquisition-heavy environment
• Strong understanding of business operations, invoicing, and accounts receivable processes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
