Data Engineer

Oddball is a rapidly growing company that builds quality software and scalable solutions for the federal space. The Data Engineer will build and maintain data infrastructure for a cloud-based case management system, including data marts, pipelines, workflows, and AWS-hosted data lake environments. The role also involves monitoring infrastructure, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting federal data security and governance requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain data marts, materialized views, and data pipelines within an AWS hosted Data Lake environment
• Design, build, and optimize data workflows and pipelines to support agency-wide analytics and reporting
• Monitor data infrastructure health, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks and data quality issues
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and agency stakeholders to scale and support new data-driven initiatives
• Support compliance with federal data security requirements including FISMA and NIST 800-53
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with large-scale data infrastructure (AWS)
• Experience building and maintaining data marts, materialized views, or ETL/ELT pipelines
• Familiarity with AWS data services and cloud-based data infrastructure
• Experience maintaining and migrating relational database environments (PostgreSQL)
• Experience maintaining structured and unstructured data
• Understanding of data security and governance in federal environments
• Thrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment and genuinely enjoys working closely with a cross-functional team
• Communicates clearly and openly, whether documenting data architectures or collaborating with engineers on integration design
