Senior Business Analyst

KPI Partners is a recognized data, analytics, and AI consulting company, and they are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join a high-impact Customer 360 engagement. This role involves serving as a critical bridge between business strategy and data architecture, focusing on stakeholder engagement, requirement definition, and collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Partner directly with business owners, operations leaders, finance, and product stakeholders to understand the operating model, revenue mechanics, and decision-making processes behind each data request
• Run structured discovery sessions, workshops, and interviews; drive to clarity when stakeholders describe outcomes rather than requirements
• Build and maintain a working map of business capabilities to data domains (customer, service, asset, route, contract, billing, HR, finance, vendor)
• Serve as the single point of accountability for requirement accuracy — escalating ambiguity early instead of letting it surface during UAT
• Translate business requirements into data requirements: entities, attributes, grain, business rules, calculation logic, historization needs, refresh frequency, and SLAs
• Author and maintain BRDs, source-to-target mapping (STTM) documents, data dictionaries, business glossaries, and acceptance criteria
• Define measurable acceptance criteria and reconciliation rules so that every deliverable can be validated against a source of truth
• Maintain requirement traceability from business ask through data model, pipeline, and consumption layer
• Scope and prioritize ODS objects with the Silver layer in mind — understanding the intended CDM structure, conformation logic, and common metrics framework for each domain, and ensuring that the attributes, grain, and business rules defined at Stage/ODS are sufficient to support Silver activation without re-ingestion
• Collaborate with the C360 Architect to validate that sourcing decisions at the ODS layer are aligned to Silver and Gold design intent — flagging gaps between what is available in source systems and what downstream activation will require
• Identify sourcing gaps early — missing attributes, unavailable history, or insufficient granularity — and recommend remediation paths before engineering begins, not during Silver conformation
• Trace end-to-end data flow from source systems through ingestion, Stage/ODS, Silver/CDM, and Gold/consumption layers into BI, reporting, and downstream applications
• Profile source data to validate assumptions — volumes, cardinality, null rates, duplicate keys, referential integrity, and late-arriving records
• Document lineage and transformation logic in a form that engineering can build from and audit can defend
• Work fluently with typical organizational source datasets: ERP (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics), CRM (Salesforce), billing and revenue systems, HRIS/payroll, asset and fleet management, work order and dispatch systems, telematics/IoT feeds, and third-party reference data
• Identify data gaps — missing attributes, unavailable history, inconsistent definitions across systems, and quality issues — and quantify the business impact of each
• Recommend remediation paths: source system change, manual capture, third-party enrichment, derived logic, or explicit scope deferral
• Flag conflicting metric definitions across business units and drive them to a single agreed definition
• Support data governance efforts — ownership assignment, stewardship, and glossary adoption
• Work alongside data engineers, architects, and BI developers through grooming, build, and validation; clarify requirements in-flight rather than over the wall
• Lead UAT planning and execution with business users; triage defects and distinguish requirement misses from build defects
• Present findings, tradeoffs, and recommendations to both technical teams and executive stakeholders in the language each audience uses

Requirements:

• 8–12 years in business analysis, solution architecture, or data consulting — ideally on enterprise data platforms or Customer 360 programs
• Proven ability to drive stakeholders to decisions — not just document what was said in the room
• Strong understanding of ODS and MDM concepts — entity resolution, SCD Type-1 patterns, master data hierarchies, current-state vs. historical data
• Ability to read upstream from use case requirements — understanding what Silver and Gold need, and working backward to ensure the ODS foundation is built to support activation without re-ingestion
• Experience across core enterprise domains: Customer/Account, Service, Billing/ERP, Operations
• Familiarity with Medallion Architecture or equivalent layered data platform frameworks (Stage/ODS/Silver/Gold)
• Experience rationalizing large, complex source systems such as Salesforce CRM, billing platforms, and operational databases
• Excellent stakeholder facilitation skills — equally effective with domain SMEs, data architects, engineers, and executives
• Snowflake literacy preferred — you won't write pipelines, but you need to understand how data moves through a Snowflake-native platform
