Manager, Clinical Research - Pediatrics

Summary

The Section of Oncology Epidemiology within the Department of Pediatrics and Texas Children's Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and strategic Manager, Clinical Research to join the newly-formed Cardio-Oncology Epidemiology Program. The position will focus on the management of all Cardio-Oncology Epidemiology studies, including research operations, personnel management, regulatory oversight, and program development activities supporting a growing portfolio of observational, population-based, and multi-insitutional research studies. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and solutions-oriented professional with exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills who thrives in dynamic environments, anticipates future needs, develops effective teams and processes, and balances competing priorities while supporting the growth of a multi-disciplinary research program.

Job Duties

Study Operations Management [ESTIMATED EFFORT 45%]:

• Directs the day-to-day operations for multi-site and corporative group observational studies including study coordination, startup, performance tracking, and protocol implementation. Coordinates assignment of program personnel across studies and initiatives, ensuring resources are appropriately aligned with project scope, complexity, timelines, and scientific priorities.
• Evaluates study requirements, operational priorities, staffing needs, and timelines across active and planned projects within the Cardio-Oncology Epidemiology Program.
• Monitors study performance metrics and implements strategies to maintain project milestones and deliverables.
• Leads administrative project management and organizational planning for multi-site and corporative group observational research initiatives. Participates in Section-level meetings with Faculty and administrative leadership and Pre- and Post-Award Teams.
• Provides regulatory oversight by drafting regulatory protocols, scheduling feasibility assessments, assisting with amendments, and coordinating audits and quality control requests.
• Oversees the collection, quality assurance, and coordination of clinical data across projects.
• Manages and communicates study timelines and deliverables to PIs, study personnel, and any external collaborators.

Personnel Management [ESTIMATED EFFORT 30%]:

• Lead staff recruitment and professional development efforts for the Cardio-Oncology Epidemiology Program in partnership with PIs. Develop staffing plans and organizational structures to support expansion of the Program's research portfolio.
• Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development to Program personnel.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations, regular 1:1s, and provide feedback to staff on a regular basis.
• Define work responsibilities, establish priorities, and review submitted work for direct reports.
• Interfaces with Section administrative leadership on behalf of the Program as needed.

Program Leadership [ESTIMATED EFFORT 25%]:

• Ensures effective workflows, documentation systems, and cross-site coordination tools are in place. 
• Builds long-term operational infrastructure, operational strategy, and ensures procedural efficiency across teams. 
• Develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Program as needed.
• Contributes to planning related to research program growth, grant expansion, staffing, and operational sustainability.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Experience within the Cardio-Oncology Epidemiology research sphere.
• Experience managing multiple clinical research projects.
• Prior supervisory experience with direct responsibility for staff development, performance management, and team building.
