Data Center Manager

About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Data Center Manager to lead the planning, operation, growth, and strategic development of our global lab and data center infrastructure. This role combines technical leadership, operational excellence, team management, and long-term capacity planning to support the company's rapid growth and evolving technological needs. 

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in large-scale data center environments, strong networking expertise, and a proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple sites while ensuring high availability, efficiency, and scalability. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Team Management 

• Partner with lab customers to define long term infrastructure roadmaps, anticipate future needs, and align lab growth with business and engineering objectives. 
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data center and lab engineers. 
• Establish operational standards, processes, and best practices across all lab locations. 
• Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. 
• Manage resource allocation and prioritize activities to meet business objectives. 

Data Center & Lab Operations 

• Oversee the day to day operation of company labs and data center facilities. 
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and operational excellence across all environments. 
• Maintain real time visibility into lab status, capacity, utilization, and health. 
• Monitor infrastructure components, resource consumption, and workload distribution across the labs. 
• Provide ongoing operational reporting and status updates to management. 

Strategic Planning & Capacity Management 

• Define and execute the long term growth strategy for the company's lab and data center infrastructure. 
• Forecast capacity requirements and proactively plan infrastructure expansion. 
• Monitor utilization trends, workload distribution, and resource consumption. 
• Optimize infrastructure allocation to maximize efficiency, performance, and scalability. 
• Develop forward looking plans to support upcoming projects and business initiatives. 

Infrastructure Expansion & Projects 

• Lead the design, deployment, and commissioning of new data centers and lab facilities. 
• Plan and manage expansion projects for existing sites. 
• Coordinate infrastructure initiatives across multiple locations and stakeholders. 
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business needs. 
• Manage infrastructure lifecycle planning, including upgrades, replacements, and capacity enhancements. 

Technology Innovation 

• Evaluate, introduce, and implement emerging technologies to maintain technological leadership. 
• Drive modernization initiatives across compute, networking, power, cooling, and monitoring systems. 
• Continuously assess opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and scalability. 
• Stay ahead of industry trends and recommend technology investments that support future growth. 

Stakeholder & Customer Engagement 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal lab customers and stakeholders. 
• Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and IT teams to understand evolving requirements. 
• Translate business and engineering needs into scalable infrastructure solutions. 
• Ensure transparency and communication regarding lab capabilities, utilization, project status, and future capacity planning. 

Requirements

Must Have 

• 10+ years of experience in data center operations, infrastructure management, or related fields. 
• Strong hands-on expertise in networking technologies and large scale network infrastructures. 
• Proven experience managing teams of at least 10 employees in a global company. 
• Experience managing multiple data center or lab locations simultaneously. 
• Demonstrated success in capacity planning, infrastructure growth, and operational management. 
• Experience leading data center construction, expansion, or large scale infrastructure deployment projects. 
• Strong project management and execution skills. 
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities. 
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment. 

Nice to Have 

• Experience with liquid cooling technologies and next-generation data center cooling solutions. 
• Experience building or operating high density AI, HPC, or large scale compute environments. 
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, automation, and orchestration platforms. 
• Experience managing global lab environments supporting R&D and product validation activities.
