About this role
Filevine is a Legal AI company delivering Legal Operating Intelligence for the future of legal work. They are seeking a Backend Engineer to join Outlaw's agile development team to enhance their best-in-class platform by developing web applications and supporting existing applications.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise to the back end development team by efficiently and productively:
- Developing web based applications using technologies such as NodeJS, Webpack, Firebase, ElasticSearch, GCP
- Performing day to day maintenance and support of all existing applications in use at Outlaw
- Preserving and optimizing the quality of the software
- Innovating and improving on the software, features, processes, and technology
- Query and manipulate data (troubleshoot, reports, migrations, ...)
- API integration and maintenance. (Proprietary Open API, third-party APIs)
- Performing detailed code reviews
- Work within the assigned team to complete duties as assigned, while mentoring and reviewing more junior engineers
- Be part of an on-call rotation with other team members to provide escalated emergency support
- Communicate frequently, clearly, and effectively with various technical and management audiences
Requirements:
- 7+ years Node.js backend development experience
- Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills
- PostgreSQL database design and optimization
- RESTful API design and implementation
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP strongly preferred)
- Express.js or similar web framework
- Docker and containerization
- Authentication and authorization patterns
- B.S. in computer science, information systems, a related field; comparable certifications; or equivalent direct work experience
- Elasticsearch experience
- Microservices architecture
- Message queue experience
- Performance optimization expertise
- Security best practices
- AI/ML API integration (OpenAI, Anthropic)
- Cloud Functions/serverless experience
- Third-party API integration experience
- Background job processing
