Product Designer, Trust & Risk

Whatnot is a live shopping and commerce marketplace. The company is seeking a Product Designer to create scalable Trust & Risk tools and user experiences that protect buyers and sellers, reduce fraud and abuse, and strengthen marketplace trust. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design appeals, compliance, enforcement, moderation, and real-time intervention experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Design end-to-end experiences that protect marketplace integrity while minimizing friction for legitimate users
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex policies, workflows, and risk signals into intuitive product experiences
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished visuals that bring clarity to ambiguous Trust & Risk problems
• Design experiences that make enforcement decisions feel clear, fair, human, and actionable
• Support internal teams who review reports, moderate content, investigate fraud, and resolve user issues through efficient, usable tooling
• Contribute to the broader design system while advocating for accessibility and inclusive user experiences
• Use data, research, and feedback to improve existing tools and identify new opportunities to reduce harm and build user trust

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Product Design with a strong portfolio of shipped work
• Strong interaction and systems thinking—you can untangle complex flows and design for edge cases
• Expertise in design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Protopie, Framer, etc.)
• Deep understanding of user experience design principles and methodologies, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proven experience designing zero-to-one products or new platforms, demonstrating your ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and define new product spaces
• Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, or supply chain management
