About this role
WEX is a company focused on payments and is seeking a highly motivated entry-level Site Reliability Engineer to join their team. The role involves contributing to reliability engineering practices, developing automation and monitoring solutions, and collaborating with experienced engineers to ensure system reliability and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining system reliability and performance
- Participate in incident management, triage, and root cause analysis
- Develop basic automation scripts to reduce manual operational tasks
- Collaborate with senior engineers to learn best practices in system design and maintenance
- Follow established processes for service deployment and change management
- Engage in knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team learning
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Basic understanding of Linux/Unix administration, networking, and system troubleshooting
- Basic knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Basic experience in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI)
- Understanding of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk
- Awareness of cloud computing concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Good understanding of version control systems (Git)
- Familiarity with developing AI based solutions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Basic familiarity with location services, telemetry, or event-driven systems
- Understanding of the challenges with network variability, especially for mobile clients or IoT systems
