CCL Global is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to support the technical development of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects. This role will lead engineering activities from early-stage development through construction readiness, with a strong emphasis on solar production modeling, technical due diligence, engineering oversight, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical engineering activities for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects from site identification through late-stage development and early construction readiness
- Perform and review solar production modeling using PVSyst and post-processing models for financial analysis and independent engineering assessments
- Develop and manage engineering schedules to support key project milestones
- Create, review, and approve scopes of work for engineering studies including civil, geotechnical, hydrology, environmental, and other technical disciplines
- Lead technical assessments, constructability reviews, desktop evaluations, constraint analyses, and due diligence activities
- Review site studies and identify potential project risks, including geotechnical, environmental, hydrology, and permitting challenges
- Partner with internal teams supporting land acquisition, permitting, environmental, transmission, interconnection, procurement, and project development
- Conduct site visits to evaluate technical conditions, assess constructability, and support project planning
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams while influencing project decisions and engineering best practices
- Maintain compliance with company engineering standards and renewable energy industry best practices
- Utilize AI tools to improve engineering workflows, research, documentation, and productivity
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects
- Strong experience supporting utility-scale solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage (BESS) developments
- Hands-on experience with PVSyst and solar production modeling is required
- Thorough understanding of 10%, 30%, 60%, and Issued for Construction (IFC) engineering packages and the development-to-construction design process
- Experience supporting engineering, procurement, construction, permitting, project finance, or technical due diligence for renewable energy projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, PV design software, production modeling tools, and related engineering applications
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Master's degree is preferred
- Existing relationships with renewable energy engineering firms, consultants, or technical service providers are a plus
- Experience leveraging generative AI tools for research, automation, engineering documentation, and productivity improvements is preferred
