Staff Software Engineer

Reserv is an InsurTech company creating AI and automation technology to improve efficiency and simplicity in insurance claims. The Staff Software Engineer will help shape Reserv’s technology and platform by leading large projects, building full-stack product and integration experiences, and delivering scalable front-end, back-end, and API solutions. The role also involves collaborating across teams, supporting customer developers, mentoring junior engineers, and influencing engineering culture and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Excel at defining the vision around delivering business-impacting goals
• I rapidly deliver against large cross-funtional, high-impact projects, proactively identifying and mititgigate risk
• I can clearly communicate with executive level stakeholders both internally and externally
• Work with our tech stack: Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Typescript, React, GraphQL, NextJS, AWS
• Help distill the core interactions a customer of Reserv will need to be successful in using our product, from the homepage, to the developer dashboard, to documentation centers and SDKs
• Ship code that improves the developer experience, including the homepage, developer dashboard, Connect, SDKs, and the documentation center
• Build frontend and backend components that improve the Reserv integration experience
• Commit on your first day, and deploy code continuously
• Support developers at customer companies
• As we scale our product & engineering teams, collaborate closely with our product ops, design, and sales teams, as well as mentor junior engineers
• Communicate ideas and specifications through detailed, precise writing
• Influence the culture, values, and processes of a growing engineering team
• Support the engineering function globally
• Enjoy and have fun being creative and thinking outside of the box. You will need to draw on analogous situations you’ve worked on before, but we are not traversing well-traveled roads. “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”

Requirements:

• Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment
• We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States
• 10 years of experience as an individual contributor with experience using modern programming languages and front-end frameworks
• Have a strong demonstrated ability to ship high-quality products, both at work and outside of work
• A passion for building intuitive technology and a thirst for learning
• Able to think through customer requirements and prioritize what is a must-have, nice-to-have, or irrelevant
• Have a strong technical skillset but also the willingness and ability to take over tasks outside your core competency
