Housed within the Beaver College of Health Sciences, the Department of Social Work at Appalachian State University is guided by an overarching framework of social and economic justice.

The undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) programs are designed to assist competent generalist social work practice within the distinct Appalachian culture of the region and across national and international contexts.
Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in Social Work (MSW) and at least two years post master’s experience.
Essential Job Functions
Essential job functions include course preparation and delivery, maintaining office hours, grading, and student engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in teaching in higher education
Expertise: Research, Social work in Communities and Organizations, Practicum Seminar, and Advanced Practice with Individuals and Families.

Varies based on course schedule (maximum five course per academic year)

Hiring Range
Three credit hour course: $3,588 per course for masters level and $3987 for a PhD
