Job Overview:
Under the direction of the supervisor, this position is responsible for the daily distribution of resources and facilitating patient throughput. This position develops new processes and implements new procedures including training staff as needed, also maintains accuracy of data and tasks. Performs competency evaluations of clerical personnel. This position also performs the duties of a unit coordinator as required, must meet all requirements and demonstrates ongoing proficiency in required skills. Maintains schedules, assists in maintaining payroll, and acts as back up with unit coordinator duties. Maintains inventory of forms and ordering of supplies. Primary duties, scheduling inductions/surgeries/C-sections, FMLA paperwork, Behavioral Health scheduling, along with other duties as directed.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Degree (Required)
1 - 2 years experience in a related field (Required)
Knowledge of computer systems and able to perform computer tasks
Job Responsibilities:
Communicates appropriately and effectively with internal and external customers (i.e. staff, patients, families, other departments, etc.). Relays accurate and complete information. Maintains confidentiality. Takes an active role in maintaining patient satisfaction (i.e. way-finding, quick response to call lights and phones, etc.). Responsible for assuring that each unit coordinator, maintaining unit coordinator schedules, implements new processes as needed, organizes new hire orientation. Addresses identified issues in a professional and non-judgmental approach.
Demonstrates ability to appropriately respond to and prioritize work. Removes medications from the tube system and places in appropriate locked cabinet. Responds appropriately to emergency situations (i.e. Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, fire, Special Alert). Performs computer down time procedures according to unit/TriHealth guidelines.
Demonstrates/maintains knowledge of organizational and unit changes. Performs clerical duties (e.g. accurate transcription of physician orders in facilities not yet live on TriHealth Connect). Supports organizational and unit changes. Works collaboratively with the charge nurse to assure that proper policies and procedures are followed to meet the needs of the department. Acknowledges need for self growth and accountability. Identifies areas for self improvement.
Develops and maintains database/spreadsheet systems for tracking staff participation in staff meetings and education. Assist educator in printing materials for new employee orientation or other education along with communication necessary. Coordinates management team schedules for successful, timely completion of the performance appraisal and peer review process providing calendar assistance, sign-up sheets, assistance in scheduling meetings, copying forms, filing, etc.
Maintains proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to unit/job (i.e. maintaining census, accurate scanning of documents). Is knowledgeable of the function/operation of equipment specific to the role on the unit. Provides supply management support. Organized and efficient in daily activities.
