50,000 lives and counting.
That’s how many South Australians our people support each year.
As one of the state’s leading not-for-profits, we’re making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we’re growing our reach for the future.
It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?
Join us as a Lived Experience Practice Lead, and be part of something bigger.
As the Lived Experience Practice Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening our suicide prevention services through the meaningful integration of lived and living experiences perspectives. Working within the Universal Aftercare Program, you will use your own lived experience of suicidal distress, recovery, or supporting someone through suicidality to support participants, guide service delivery, and champion recovery oriented, trauma-informed practice.
This is a unique opportunity to combine peer practice, leadership, and service improvement. You will work alongside case managers to support participants through outreach and engagement, provide professional leadership and supervision to peer workers, and contribute to service design and clinical decision making processes. Through your work, you will help ensure our services remain safe, responsive, person centered and grounded in lived experience expertise.
This position is based at Hindmarsh, 0.8FTE - 1FTE, on a fixed-term contract until 30th June 2027.
You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
● Working alongside case managers to support participants and provide lived experience informed guidance on service delivery and engagement strategies.
● Providing leadership, mentoring, and reflective supervision to peer workers, fostering safe and effective peer practice.
● Contributing to referral discussions, assessing participant needs, vulnerability, and service suitability within the program.
● Championing trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and culturally safe approaches across the service.
● Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by embedding lived experience perspectives into service design and practice.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
● Personal lived or living experience of suicidal distress, recovery, or supporting someone through suicidal distress, with the ability to use your experience purposefully, safely, and professionally.
● A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (essential).
● Demonstrated experience working within peer practice, mental health, suicide prevention, or community services settings.
● Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
We would also love you to have:
● Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or similar suicide prevention training.
● Experience providing mentoring, supervision, or leadership support to peer workers or lived experience practitioners.
Your contribution here matters. We want you to see your impact every day, and we want you to feel valued for it.
