Alcove Robotics builds robotics solutions for customers who need serious engineering execution. They are hiring a Principal Electrical Engineer to own PCB and embedded electronics design for robotics and automation systems, focusing on hands-on design and collaboration across various teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design PCBs for robotics and automation systems, including embedded controllers, sensor interfaces, motor-control boards, power distribution, operator panels, and system interconnects
- Own schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, release packages, board bring-up, debugging, validation, and production support
- Design mixed-signal, power, and high-speed digital boards with attention to EMI/EMC, grounding, thermal performance, signal integrity, manufacturability, and reliability
- Work across mechanical, firmware, software, vendor, contract manufacturing, and customer teams to make sure the electronics fit the system, survive the environment, and are practical to build and service
Requirements:
- 7+ years of PCB design experience for embedded systems, robotics, automation, industrial equipment, aerospace, automotive, agricultural, or other ruggedized hardware
- Strong Altium Designer experience, including multi-layer boards, design rules, libraries, schematic capture, PCB layout, and release documentation
- Practical experience with microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communication interfaces, power electronics, high-current routing, switching regulators, protection circuits, and safe power distribution
- Experience with high-speed digital layout, signal integrity, differential pairs, impedance control, memory interfaces, and protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, or RS-485
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and debugging electronics for harsh environments involving vibration, temperature variation, moisture, EMI/EMC exposure, high-static conditions, or field use
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
- Robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, embedded Linux, machine vision, or electromechanical product experience
- EMC pre-compliance, UL, environmental testing, safety, ruggedized design, defense, space, or med device experience
- Experience taking hardware from prototype through pilot build or production
