Staff Software Engineer (Developer Experience)

Garner Health is a rapidly growing healthcare technology company focused on transforming the healthcare economy. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical strategy and execution, utilizing AI to optimize software systems while fostering a strong team culture.

Responsibilities:

• Lead team-level technical strategy and execution on multi-quarter time horizons
• Use AI to build, optimize, and maintain software systems
• Uplevel engineers across the organization by raising the technical bar
• Collaborate across disciplines to understand our domain and iterate on projects
• Protect our users' privacy and security through best practices

Requirements:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience leading teams of engineers with demonstrated impact on technical strategy
• A generalist software engineering mindset ready to learn new languages, frameworks, and techniques required for a fast paced startup environment
• Demonstrated ability to build complex systems using AI coding agents (we use Claude Code)
• Able to learn quickly and mentor others
• Familiarity with data security and HIPAA compliance
