The Stores Manager manages people, processes, and systems to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately and productivity targets are met.
What you will be responsible for:
- Monitor activities associated with Inventory and Shipping activity using KPIs
- Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system
- Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Ensure quality, delivery and budget objectives are met
- Oversee stock control and processing of work orders
- Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
- Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
- Training staff and monitoring their performance and progress
- Keep stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements.
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements
- Brief leadership team on area issues daily
- Promote a culture of safety by monitoring self and others to assure all duties are performed within the guidelines
- Assist in the training of other employees as well as assisting them in the performance of their job assignments through coaching, counseling, and guidance.
- Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers.
- Keep own and adjacent work area clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you will need to be successful in this role:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience in Logistics, Materials, Planning and/or related business areas.
- Ten (10) years of experience demonstrating proficiency in a broad range of functional assignments including proven ability to structure and conduct advanced supply chain analyses in the areas of inventory management, materials management and lean management principles
- Five + years’ experience demonstrated proficiency in Shipping/Receiving and Logistics areas.
- Knowledge in IATA, DOT, and FAA regulations governing proper shipping practices.
- Critical thinking and logic skills and the discipline to persevere until problems are solved.
- Familiarity with MRP and lean concepts as well as proficient in MS Office software applications.
- Demonstrated track record in managing teams and working effectively across all functions and organizations
- Good leadership and team participation skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and accurately perform duties.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Willingness to continue personal growth and development.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Aerospace background preferred.
- C-TPAT experience (international import process) preferred.
