Restart Recovery is a growing MEP consulting firm seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their remote team. The role involves the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems, primarily HVAC, plumbing, and piping, for various commercial, industrial, and institutional projects across several states.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and engineering calculations
- Perform load calculations (heating, cooling, ventilation) in compliance with applicable codes
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines for integrated design solutions
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs from contractors
- Ensure designs comply with California Title 24, ASHRAE standards, IMC, UPC, and applicable state and local codes
- Participate in client meetings, project kickoffs, and design reviews
- Mentor junior staff and support project documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in MEP consulting or building systems design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and mechanical design software (e.g., Trane Trace, HAP, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing design, and energy codes
- Strong knowledge of California, Nevada building codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Experience with energy modeling and Title 24 compliance documentation
- LEED accreditation or other green building certifications
- Experience with advanced mechanical systems like VRF and DOAS
- Experience with Navisworks for BIM coordination
- Experience with construction administration
