Dexian is a leading provider of staffing, IT, and workforce solutions. They are seeking a Substation Project Engineer to manage assigned substation projects from early-stage development through construction, ensuring compliance with industry standards and coordinating various engineering activities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned substation projects from early-stage development through construction, commissioning, and project closeout
- Support project development teams by defining engineering requirements, scope, and technical deliverables
- Provide technical oversight and quality review of external Engineers of Record (EORs) and engineering consultants
- Ensure compliance with interconnection agreements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards including IEEE, NESC, and ASCE
- Coordinate engineering, surveying, geotechnical, permitting, procurement, and construction activities
- Review interconnection documentation including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive power studies, harmonic studies, and transmission owner requirements
- Interface with utilities, transmission owners, ISOs/RTOs, consultants, OEMs, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Manage long-lead equipment procurement and support project budgeting, estimating, and scheduling activities
- Support project commissioning, energization, and construction execution activities
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery
- Assist with regulatory support activities, technical documentation, and legal proceedings when required
- Drive cost-effective, safe, and technically sound project execution
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, transmission engineering, power systems, or utility-scale energy projects
- Experience managing substation projects from design through construction and commissioning
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage substations, transmission systems, and utility interconnection processes
- Experience working with ISOs/RTOs such as PJM, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO, NYISO, or SPP
- Familiarity with system impact studies, facility studies, interconnection agreements, and transmission planning
- Working knowledge of IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and utility design standards
- Experience coordinating with engineering consultants, EORs, EPC contractors, utilities, and equipment suppliers
- Knowledge of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, protection relays, controls, and SCADA systems
- Strong project management, stakeholder management, budgeting, and procurement experience
