The Uncommon Business is the world's fastest-growing AI-first education company, seeking a Marketing Automation Manager to oversee their GoHighLevel account. In this role, you will manage the CRM, ensure data integrity, lead a small team of automation specialists, and be responsible for the final sign-off on all marketing automation processes.
Responsibilities:
- Architected the full workflow map and tagging requirements for an evergreen relaunch: every lead path, every automation trigger, every attribution tag
- Turned a high-priority Marketing automation request around in under 24 hours: scoped, built, tested, live the same business day
- Fielded a same-day split test request, handed the build to an L1 specialist, QC'd it on desktop and mobile, and pushed it live before EOD without building it yourself
- Audited 40+ live automations, found 3 misfires corrupting tag data, and fixed them before they hit the reporting cycle
- Run the final QC pass on an enrollment funnel, caught two broken custom fields and one mis-routed automation, and only then signed off for go-live
- Tested GHL's newest AI workflow trigger in a sandbox, decided it wasn't ready for launch traffic, and briefed leadership on when we'll revisit
- The CRM and the data going into it. Tag architecture, automation flows, list hygiene, segmentation, contact governance. When something in GHL is off, you're the first to catch it and the only one who needs to fix it. (Dashboards and attribution analysis belong to the Data team. The integrity of the source data feeding them belongs to you.)
- Build speed. Every Zapier flow, Zoom webinar setup, ManyChat flow, and cross-platform integration. Some you ship yourself, some you scope and hand to your L1 specialists, and either way you own that it works and keeps working at 11pm on a launch night. Standard requests go live in 24 business hours
- Final sign-off. You are the last set of eyes before anything goes live. Every funnel, email sequence, SMS flow, and landing page gets tested end to end, desktop and mobile, every tag fired through a real test contact. The Build Team builds. You ship
- The team and the playbooks. You mentor your L1 specialists, train Sales, Support, and Marketing on the parts of GHL they touch, and build the playbook library that lets people self-serve instead of pinging you. You're not the bottleneck. You're the multiplier
- The AI watchtower. GHL ships new AI features near-weekly, and Zapier, ManyChat, and Claude are right behind. You test every release in a sandbox before the team asks about it, decide what's worth adopting, and brief leadership quarterly. We are never the last to know
Requirements:
- Experience running high-volume CRM at scale, specifically GHL (or HubSpot or Keap) at a company with launches, complex tagging, and reporting that mattered to the P&L
- Ability to design architecture, not just builds, seeing the funnel, designing the tag system, and explaining to leadership why the structure holds under launch load
- Fluency in Claude and advanced knowledge in Zapier, with a habit of reading release notes
- Experience as a final-eyes operator, testing everything: desktop, mobile, test email, test SMS, real contact in a real flow
- Ability to move fast without breaking things, shipping in hours, not weeks, ensuring work doesn't cause issues in subsequent weeks of a launch
