DataCore Software is a global leader in software-defined storage and data infrastructure, serving over 10,000 customers. They are seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the strategic vision and execution of their enterprise file system product portfolio, focusing on market positioning, competitive differentiation, and revenue targets.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the multi-year product strategy for the enterprise file system portfolio, driving revenue growth and market leadership
- Establish market positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies that resonate with C-suite and technical stakeholders
- Conduct rigorous competitive and market analysis to identify white-space opportunities and emerging customer needs
- Partner with Sales and CMO to develop segment-specific go-to-market strategies
- Drive innovation roadmaps that balance near-term revenue impact with long-term strategic advantage
- Own end-to-end P&L accountability for the file system product line, including revenue targets and investment decisions
- Manage the product portfolio lifecycle—from ideation and launch through growth and optimization to end-of-life
- Develop compelling business cases for new initiatives with clear metrics for success
- Communicate product strategy, roadmap, and performance metrics to executive leadership and board stakeholders
- Lead cross-functional partnerships with Engineering, Sales, CMO, and Finance to align on business priorities
- Drive technical product strategy with deep knowledge of file system architecture, distributed storage systems, and HPC requirements
- Partner with VP of Engineering to define technical requirements, establish performance benchmarks, and ensure enterprise-grade reliability
- Lead data orchestration and migration capabilities development to enable seamless data movement across heterogeneous environments
- Establish product roadmap for optimizing performance, scalability, availability, and security across Linux, virtualized, and cloud-native deployments
- Build and mentor a high-performing product management team, establishing a culture of customer-centricity and operational excellence
- Define product management standards, processes, and best practices across discovery, validation, and launch execution
- Develop deep customer insight through direct engagement with key accounts, advisory boards, and user communities
- Drive customer-centric initiatives including: Voice of Customer (VoC) programs that identify evolving needs and drive retention
- Win-loss analysis and competitive positioning
- Thought leadership and industry engagement on enterprise storage trends
- Advisory board management and customer success partnerships
- Segment-specific positioning and engagement strategies
- Establish measurable success metrics tied to customer satisfaction, retention, and expansion revenue
- Continuously improve product strategy and execution based on customer feedback and market dynamics
Requirements:
- 12+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in a director-level or equivalent leadership role
- Deep technical expertise in file system architecture, distributed storage systems, and high-performance computing
- Proven track record of developing and launching enterprise infrastructure products across multiple deployment models (on-premises, edge, cloud)
- P&L management experience with ownership of revenue targets, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; experience using data and customer insights to drive critical product decisions
- Excellent executive presence and communication skills; comfort presenting to C-suite, boards, and large customer audiences
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority; strong leadership, negotiation, and collaboration skills
- Experience with HPC workloads, scientific computing, or AL/ML infrastructure products
- Familiarity with software-defined storage (SDS), cloud-native storage, Kubernetes, or containerized environments
- Experience with IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS), Isilon, Lustre, or other enterprise file systems
- Background in marketing or sales; understanding of enterprise sales cycles and buyer personas
