The College Board is a mission-driven organization dedicated to excellence in education. They are seeking a Product Designer who will contribute to user-centered design initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and create meaningful digital experiences that support users' needs.
Responsibilities:
- Support design thinking practices to understand user needs and frame design challenges
- Participate in generative and evaluative research activities like interviews, usability testing, and surveys
- Assist in planning and supporting workshops and co-creation sessions
- Help synthesize user and operational data into design opportunities
- Contribute to inclusive, human-centered design practices by considering accessibility and equity in your work
- Create user journeys, workflows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore and communicate design ideas
- Contribute to high-fidelity UI designs using established visual and interaction patterns
- Apply existing design system and components in your work to ensure consistency and usability
- Study design system gaps and use cases
- Learn and apply accessibility best practices
- Assist with usability testing to validate design solutions and iterate on feedback
- Use tools like Figma (preferred), Miro, and Dovetail to collaborate and document design work
- Collaborate daily with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to contribute to design and delivery
- Participate in agile ceremonies like standups, planning, and critiques to stay aligned with the team
- Communicate design decisions clearly and support processes with documentation and guidance
- Present your work with clarity, receiving and applying feedback to improve outcomes
- Seek out learning opportunities, stay curious, and regularly engage in design critiques and team activities
- Be open to feedback and use it to improve your design craft and team collaboration
- Contribute to team culture by helping with design documentation, workshops, and team-building efforts
Requirements:
- A portfolio of your work included in your application
- 2–4 years of experience in product or service design roles
- Experience with design thinking and user-centered design practices
- Experience supporting and conducting user research and usability testing
- Proficiency with core design tools like Figma and interest in emerging AI tools
- Ability to create effective wireframes, flows, and visual designs, and iterate based on feedback
- An understanding of and interest in design systems and accessibility best practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an openness to feedback and a team-first mindset
- A growth mindset—you're curious, motivated, and always looking to improve your skills and impact
- The ability to travel at a minimum of 3-5 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business (including but not limited to traveling to client/user sites to engage with stakeholders)
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Experience with tools like Miro and Dovetail
