Centerline is a company that designs, builds, and maintains critical infrastructure across North America. They are seeking an HR/Payroll Business Partner who will act as both a strategic HR partner and payroll subject matter expert, responsible for payroll administration and collaborating with business leaders on employee relations and organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with division leaders to provide coaching, guidance, and day-to-day HR support
- Support performance management processes, including goal setting, coaching, development planning, and accountability
- Address employee concerns, workplace conflicts, and policy-related issues with professionalism and discretion
- Conduct investigations and recommend fair, consistent, and compliant resolutions
- Assist with organizational planning, workforce initiatives, job design, and talent development programs
- Partner with the Total Rewards team to manage and support employee benefits programs for Canadian employees
- Collaborate with HR leadership on change management and organizational effectiveness efforts
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits
- Review and validate payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable laws
- Manage quarterly and year end payroll reporting, including, but not limited to T-4s, RL-1, Worker’s comp reporting, etc
- Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll-related questions and concerns
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll tax requirements, garnishments, and other regulatory obligations
- Monitor legislative changes impacting payroll practices
- Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting activities
- Support internal and external audits, including payroll tax audits and compliance reviews
- Generate and analyze payroll reports for leadership and business partners
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or a related field
- Experience processing full-cycle payroll
- Experience supporting employee relations and performance management activities
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and payroll regulations
- Multi-province payroll experience
- Experience with UKG Pro/WFM, ADP Workforce Now, or similar HRIS and payroll platforms
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
