Meduit is a national leader in healthcare revenue cycle management, supporting hospitals and physician practices across the United States. The Database Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and evolving large-scale MySQL database environments, ensuring scalable data structures and high-performance query execution in a high-volume production setting.
Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve MySQL schemas to support scalable, multi-tenant architectures
- Define and enforce database design standards including indexing, partitioning, and performance optimization
- Optimize complex SQL queries and resolve systemic database performance issues
- Implement and automate database change management, schema deployments, and migrations
- Maintain replication, failover, and disaster recovery processes to ensure high availability
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure data integrity
- Support cross-platform environments including MSSQL and Snowflake integrations
- Collaborate with engineering and BI teams to align data structures with reporting and analytics needs
- Work within Jira workflows and use GitHub for version control and documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with relational databases
- Strong experience with MySQL design, performance tuning, and optimization
- Experience supporting large-scale or multi-terabyte database environments
- Strong SQL skills with a focus on query performance and optimization
- Experience with replication, high availability, and disaster recovery
- Experience with automation and Git-based workflows
- Experience with database migration and change management tools (e.g., Flyway, Liquibase, Grate)
- Familiarity with Snowflake and MSSQL environments
- Experience designing multi-tenant database architectures
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Experience in healthcare or revenue cycle management
- Experience supporting high-volume production systems
