Business Analyst

JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a detail-oriented IT Business Analyst to support critical initiatives within the Operational Risk domain, focusing on Gen AI and Data initiatives for the Operational Risk Tower. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art Gen AI solutions and use cases as part of the global risk technology team. This role requires translating business needs into clear technical requirements supporting risk-related data and process initiatives, with a proactive, team-oriented approach being essential. Key Responsibilities: Analyze and document business processes related to operational risk, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, define, and document business and functional requirements for Risk IT initiatives. Develop clear and comprehensive business requirement documents (BRDs) and functional specifications to support system enhancements and risk reporting. Apply relational data concepts to support source-to-target data mapping and document data flows for enterprise data lake ingestion and reporting solutions. Partner with Agile teams to support delivery of risk-related solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and timelines. Conduct gap analysis and exploratory data analysis to identify improvement opportunities and inform solution design. Perform analysis, design, implementation, modification, and daily functional support of applications. Work with key stakeholders within all business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies. Gather requirements from business units and translate them to programmers and developers. Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to aid in decisions on system implementation. Support one or more highly complex business processes. Work on multiple projects as a project team member. Serve as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Required Qualifications: 3-5 years proven experience as an IT Business Analyst or similar role. 2-4 years of experience in the role of an IT Business Analyst or in a related role. Strong knowledge of Gen AI use case development. Proficiency in RSA Archer and operational risk terminology. Advanced SQL skills and experience with data mapping and data flow diagrams. Excellent business requirement documentation skills. Experience working in Agile squads. Familiarity with Azure Open AI and Azure Synapse. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to translate business and technical requirements into clear documentation, including business requirement documents (BRDs), process flows, and data mappings. Solid understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, with experience using tools such as Jira and working within Scrum teams. Strong SQL proficiency and data analysis skills. Working knowledge of enterprise data lake architectures and cloud-based data platforms. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field; advanced degrees are considered an asset. Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field. Basic knowledge of programming languages in order to comprehend reading code and basic functions. Ability to create business solutions that increase competitive advantage. Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Project management skills in order to handle diverse projects, often times simultaneously, and meet aggressive deadlines. Ability to solve technical problems/ processes and understand complex details. Ability to increase operating efficiency with produce high quality technical solutions. A high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary to relate to other people at their systems knowledge level. Ability to analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to arrive at innovative solutions. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (Basel, OSFI, etc.). Experience with Power BI or Tableau. Familiarity with Azure data platforms (ADLS, Synapse, Databricks, etc.). Experience with RSA Archer or similar GRC platforms. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks related to operational risk (e.g., Basel, OSFI guidelines). Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Power BI or Tableau. Familiarity with Azure data platforms and services, including Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks. Certifications: Relevant certifications (Agile, Business Analysis, Risk Management). Certifications in Agile methodologies, business analysis, or risk management. Education: Bachelors Degree
