Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support development and production of a missile system. The role involves creating detailed designs, layouts, and drawings for various components and subassemblies, while ensuring collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
- Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM
- Coordinating the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence
- Managing drawing releases, responding to CRs, generating CN's, and presenting/supporting change boards and design reviews
- Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering from an accredited university
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant industry
- Proficient in Computer Aided Design (CREO Preferred)
- Active development of new mechanical design engineering principles and full demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and related disciplines
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and demonstrated perform complex system-level tolerance analysis
- Open to travel up to 25% of the time
- Hands-on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3-D printers, test rigs)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD)
- Experience with aerospace hardware such as structures, optical or radio frequency (RF) sensors, energetics, propulsion, or flight control systems
- Comprehensive understanding of aerospace systems lifecycle from proposal and capture efforts, development, transition to production, production, and sustainment
