Samsara is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, helping organizations improve their physical operations through IoT data. The Principal Product Manager will own a significant portion of the Maintenance product, driving the full product lifecycle and becoming a domain expert in maintenance operations.
Responsibilities:
- Become a domain expert in maintenance operations. Build deep, lasting relationships with customers — maintenance directors, fleet managers, technicians — and translate what you learn into product conviction that the team can rally around
- Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for your product area within Connected Asset Maintenance. Define where we’re going, why, and in what order — balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and business impact. Communicate it clearly to the team, to leadership, and to customers
- Drive the full product lifecycle from discovery and definition through design, build, launch, and iteration. Set success criteria and stage-gates. Ensure we ship on time and at the quality bar our enterprise customers expect
- Partner with Engineering and Design to build a world-class product. Bring strong opinions on UX and workflow design. Make crisp tradeoff decisions. Use AI tools aggressively to accelerate research, spec writing, and prototyping — and raise the bar for the team
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to win strategic deals, drive adoption post-sale, and build the GTM playbook for a new product line. You’re not above jumping on a sales call or writing enablement materials
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Requirements:
- 6+ years in a software product management role, with demonstrated experience building a new product or business from early stages
- A track record of deep customer engagement — building real relationships with customers and turning those insights into products that win
- Strong technical fluency — you can go deep with engineers on data models, APIs, and system architecture, and you establish credibility quickly
- Active use of AI tools in your day-to-day product work. You should be able to point to specific ways AI makes you faster and better today
- Proven ability to set product vision and roadmaps, and to ship products that deliver measurable business results on tight timelines
- Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting to enterprise customers, senior executives, and cross-functional teams. Equally strong writing clear strategy documents and concise product specs
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving clarity. You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do — you figure it out and move
