Mitra AI is seeking a Senior Business Analyst with light project management experience to lead requirements intelligence for a nonprofit fundraising services organization. The role involves gathering, analyzing, and prioritizing requirements while coordinating between business stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure effective project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct structured discovery sessions with internal business SMEs across operational departments
- Document requirements comprehensively — a ticket you write should be actionable by an engineer without a follow-up conversation
- Analyze each requirement for business validity: does this solve a real problem, and is it worth building?
- Assess and quantify the business value of requirements — not urgency, not visibility, not stakeholder seniority
- Prioritize the backlog based on structured analysis and calculated value
- Challenge assumptions when the business case is unclear or overstated
- Facilitate conversations with internal SMEs that draw out real needs, not just stated preferences
- Ask the follow-up questions others skip; listen for what is not being said
- Communicate decisions and priorities back to stakeholders clearly and diplomatically
- Know how to say no — and how to make the person feel heard while you do it
- Maintain visibility across backlog status, upcoming dependencies, and delivery timelines
- Proactively flag scope changes, requirement conflicts, or missing details before they reach development
- Coordinate between engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to keep work moving without requiring a dedicated project manager
- Translate requirements into developer-ready tickets with sufficient detail to eliminate ambiguity
- Partner with software engineers and QA throughout the build to ensure requirements are implemented as intended
- Apply knowledge of nonprofit, direct mail, COMS, or campaign management processes to validate requirements against industry best practices
- Identify process improvement opportunities alongside requirements documentation
Requirements:
- 7–12 years of business analysis experience, with demonstrated progression to a senior-level BA capacity
- Light project management or project coordination experience — enough to keep a lean team organized without a dedicated PM
- Experience conducting requirements discovery with internal business SMEs
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize a backlog by business value using structured analysis
- Experience writing requirements documentation sufficient for engineering execution without clarification
- Background in nonprofit organizations, direct mail operations, or fundraising/campaign management strongly preferred
- Experience on enterprise platform replacement or modernization programs
- Exposure to order management, operational workflow systems, or client campaign execution environments
- Exceptional listening skills — you get people to tell you what they actually need, not just what they ask for
- Comfortable and confident delivering pushback — diplomatically, but without backing down
- Structured analytical thinking — business value is calculated, not assumed
- Enough organizational discipline to keep a lean team coordinated without a dedicated PM
- Clear, concise written communication in English
- Political intelligence — navigates complex stakeholder environments without creating adversaries
