Marketeq Talent is seeking a UI Engineer Intern to support frontend implementation across the development pipeline. The role involves building new frontend screens from Figma designs and integrating frontend screens with backend APIs, with a focus on quality and detail-oriented work.
Responsibilities:
- Build new frontend screens from Figma designs using AI-assisted workflows such as Claude CLI, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or similar tools
- Translate Figma designs into responsive, production-quality frontend code
- Support frontend implementation across local development, staging validation, and production release workflows
- Integrate frontend screens with backend APIs that have already been built by the engineering team
- Work with authentication flows, API responses, loading states, error states, empty states, validation, and edge cases
- Maintain and extend existing frontend components, design system patterns, and responsive layouts
- Use existing component libraries and project conventions instead of inventing unnecessary new UI patterns
- Debug frontend and full-stack integration issues
- Self-test your work before QA handoff, including functional behavior, user flows, edge cases, data limitations, and acceptance criteria
- Think through error states, empty states, broken flows, and unusual user behavior before submitting work for review
- Contribute to ticket documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases, data constraints, and implementation notes
- Write clean PRs with clear explanations of what changed, what was tested, and what still needs review
- Receive feedback through code reviews, staging reviews, implementation walkthroughs, and QA handoff reviews
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Technology, or a related technical field
- Minimum 2 years of total frontend development experience through coursework, internships, freelance work, personal projects, open-source work, bootcamps, or shipped products
- Strong hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Experience with at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Angular, or similar
- Experience translating Figma designs into working frontend interfaces
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude CLI, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools
- Basic full-stack understanding, including how frontends connect to backend APIs
- Experience consuming REST or GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity with authentication flows such as OAuth, JWT, sessions, or role-based access
- QA-minded approach to frontend and full-stack development, including the ability to self-test work before QA handoff
- Comfort working with Git, branches, commits, pull requests, and code reviews
- Ability to read documentation, think through problems, and work independently without needing every small step explained
- Portfolio, GitHub, shipped project, or frontend work samples we can review
- Candidates who are clearly frontend-focused, not backend-only developers trying to casually move into frontend
- Candidates with strong UI judgment and attention to visual detail
- Candidates who can compare their implementation against a Figma design and spot layout, spacing, typography, and responsiveness issues
- Candidates who can use AI tools effectively but still understand the code they are shipping
- Candidates who can test their own work before asking someone else to review it
- Candidates who think through user flows, edge cases, error states, empty states, and data limitations before submitting work for review
- Candidates who do not treat QA as the first person responsible for finding obvious frontend issues
- Candidates who can document assumptions, edge cases, and limitations clearly
- Experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG
- Experience with frontend performance auditing
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Vercel, Netlify, Render, or AWS
- Familiarity with error tracking or session replay tools such as Sentry, LogRocket, or similar
- Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Chrome DevTools, or other frontend testing/debugging tools
- Experience working with design systems or component libraries
- Experience with responsive dashboards, marketplaces, SaaS products, or admin panels
