Amalga Composites is a leader in engineered composite solutions, specializing in high-performance applications for various industries. They are seeking a Key Account Manager for Industrial Markets to grow existing accounts and develop new business, requiring strong technical sales skills and the ability to engage with clients effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for a defined book of existing and high-potential industrial customers
- Become the primary commercial contact for key accounts and target prospects
- Have credible technical conversations around applications, drawings, materials, dimensions, tolerances, operating conditions, volumes, and manufacturability
- Help customers understand how Amalga can support their manufacturing, performance, weight reduction, corrosion resistance, or supply chain needs
- Identify the right contacts across engineering, sourcing, purchasing, operations, maintenance, and leadership
- Focus on industrial manufacturing, fluid power, energy, automation, motion control, converting, paper and film, automotive, and other industrial applications
- Find new divisions, departments, programs, projects, and applications within existing and target accounts
- Determine whether Amalga is a good fit based on application requirements, volumes, technical complexity, lead time, and commercial opportunity
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Inside Sales, Estimating, and Customer Service to move opportunities forward
- Build and manage a pipeline of new and existing opportunities with a clear focus on profitable growth
Requirements:
- Experience: 5-10 years of B2B sales, business development, technical sales, or key account management experience
- Industrial Background: Experience selling into industrial manufacturing, fluid power, automation, motion control, converting, paper and film, energy, automotive, or related sectors
- Technical Comprehension: Ability to understand technical concepts, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and customer application requirements
- Commercial Ownership: Proven ability to grow accounts, develop new opportunities, and manage customer relationships profitably
- Customer Presence: Comfortable meeting with engineers, buyers, sourcing teams, plant managers, and executives
- Well Traveled: Willing and able to travel 50-75%
- Complex Accounts: Experience navigating larger organizations with multiple decision-makers and stakeholders
- Software/ERP: Comfortable using CRM and business systems. Epicor or manufacturing ERP experience is a plus
- Experience with composite materials, resins, adhesives, reinforcements, plastics, metals, machined components, engineered materials, or custom manufacturing
- Engineering degree or technical degree preferred, but not required if the candidate has strong technical sales experience
- Experience selling custom-engineered products rather than catalog-only products
- Experience working with small or mid-sized manufacturers where speed, ownership, and follow-through matter
