NGEN Mission Critical is a global operation designed to meet the critical power and thermal infrastructure needs of mission critical facilities. They are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to manage the electrical scope across data center development projects, collaborating with other engineers and consulting partners to ensure technical delivery from design to construction.
Responsibilities:
- Own the electrical scope on data center development projects from early design through construction documentation
- Review and direct third-party consulting engineers on electrical design deliverables, keeping them on scope and on schedule
- Manage the sequencing and scheduling of electrical engineering tasks across concurrent projects
- Collaborate with our procurement team on long-lead electrical equipment specifications and sourcing
- Coordinate closely with our mechanical engineer to ensure alignment across all MEP disciplines
- Contribute to basis of design documentation and internal design review sessions
- Support the Head of Data Center Development in shaping the technical direction of projects
- Check and approve drawings and bill of materials
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- 8–10 years of experience in a consulting or design-build environment, with a meaningful portion in data center or mission critical facilities
- Strong project management skills. You are as comfortable owning a schedule and coordinating a team as you are in a technical review
- Solid working knowledge of data center electrical systems: generators, UPS, switchgear, power distribution, and related balance-of-plant equipment
- Proven experience working with or directing third-party engineering consultants
- Comfort working across multiple data center typologies such as colocation, hyperscale, Bitcoin mining, edge - experience in any of these is welcome
- Experience in early-stage and high growth environments is considered a bonus
- PE license highly preferred
- PMP or equivalent project management credential is an asset but not required
