Lester Hamilton is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to perform advanced electrical engineering work, including design, documentation, and project coordination. The role involves collaborating with project management teams, interfacing with clients, and leveraging digital tools to enhance productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Independently perform intermediate to advanced electrical engineering work
- Complete intermediate to advanced electrical design tasks under the supervision of a senior engineer
- Perform calculations, analysis, and design for electrical building systems
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to prepare engineering drawings, layouts, and visual aids
- Develop, review, and write sequences of operation for electrical systems
- Survey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports documenting findings
- Collect field data and supporting information required for construction documents
- Prepare project design packages and construction documentation
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams throughout project execution
- Interface directly with clients regarding technical matters and project requirements
- Review shop drawings and contractor submittals
- Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Conduct punch list reviews and support project closeout activities
- Prepare project status and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain and update shop drawing logs, RFI logs, and project documentation
- Accurately track and manage project hours and workload
- Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on schedule and within budget
- Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to improve productivity, reduce manual effort, and support high-quality deliverables
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by adopting new technologies, skills, and methodologies
- Support the implementation and adoption of innovative digital tools and evolving workflows
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional electrical engineering experience
- Knowledge of electrical systems commonly found in commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings, including: Single-phase and three-phase power distribution, Lighting and lighting control systems, Grounding systems, Life safety and emergency power systems
- Knowledge of applicable electrical design codes and standards, including: National Electrical Code (NEC), Life Safety Codes, Energy Conservation Codes
- Knowledge of electrical engineering software and design tools used for: Short circuit studies, Coordination studies, Arc flash analysis, Equipment sizing, Underground feeder calculations, Lighting calculations
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for producing engineering drawings and design documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Skilled in electrical code analysis and equipment selection to ensure compliance
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve workflows and operational efficiency
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment through strong communication, organization, self-motivation, and resourcefulness
- Ability to follow workplace and site safety requirements
- Ability to prepare technical documents, reports, and correspondence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to communicate directly with clients and, when required, serve as a primary technical point of contact
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
