BGE, Inc. is a nationwide civil engineering consulting firm offering diverse career opportunities in public and private infrastructure projects. They are seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to lead the design and engineering efforts of water engineering design needs, serving as the technical expert for complex water infrastructure projects including pump stations and pipelines.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Technical Advisor/Subject Matter Expert engineering work on a variety of civil engineering projects related to water systems including modeling, pipeline, lift stations and pump stations facilities
- Advice and mentor engineers, designers, and technicians
- Partner with senior staff in developing and maintaining client relationships as the Technical Expert Point of Contact
- Technical Engineering support for the development of project pursuits, proposals, and interviews
- Lead the design and engineering efforts of Water Engineering Design Needs for all major client projects
- Serve as the technical expert and engineer for complex water infrastructure projects including pump stations, lift stations, dams, structures, tunnels, and pipelines
- Be the go-to resource to solve complex technical problems, mentor emerging talent and help establish BGE as a recognized leader in the hydraulic facilities practice
- Contribute to the leadership of our emerging engineers in high performance operational and technical procedures, as well as relationship building and community involvement
- Advice on Large-scale water infrastructure projects involving pumping systems, raw water, treated water, sewage, and storm drain systems; complex pipeline projects; design-build and alternative delivery projects; projects across multiple states and potentially nationally; vendor and manufacturer relationships for pumping equipment and hydraulic systems
- Maintain vendor and manufacturer relationships (Flowserve, Smith Pumps, Hydraulic Institute) and other industry networks
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
- Registered PE in Texas required or through reciprocity within 6 months of hire (will have PE license in multiple states across Southern US)
- 15+ years' experience working in public works and/or municipal services projects
- Previous experience designing and engineering water facilities (hydraulics, pump stations, and piping design)
- 10+ years of experience working in water & sewer system planning and design, including 3 or more years in Project Management
- Experience in business development, developing, and growing relationships with new clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of relevant CAD software; Civil 3D preferred
- Experience with Water Modeling Software (WaterGEMS, InfoWater, or comparable) preferred
- Deep expertise in hydraulic facilities, pump stations, and lift stations is a must have, highest priority
- Experience with large diameter pipelines and conveyance systems is a must have, highest priority
- Knowledge of dams, structures, and tunnels is a must have
- Understanding water movement systems (raw water, treated water, sewage, storm drain) is a must have
