The Software Engineering Manager will lead a small engineering team to deliver scalable pharmacy technology while collaborating closely with various departments to drive roadmap execution and ensure high-quality software delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead 2–4 software engineers and SQA within an Agile delivery model
- Own technical design, architecture, and implementation of pharmacy applications
- Balance hands‑on development with team leadership and delivery accountability
- Ensure delivery of high‑quality, secure, and maintainable software
- Reduce technical debt through proactive design and modernization efforts
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and production issues
- Hire, onboard, coach, and develop engineering talent
- Set clear expectations and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable engineering culture
- Some of these engineers will be associates from vendor partners. Onboard and support them as one team to be successful
- Partner with Product, Pharmacy Operations, IT, and stakeholders to drive roadmap execution
- Translate business needs into technical solutions with clear trade‑offs
- Represent engineering in planning, prioritization, and stakeholder discussions
- Communicate status, risks, and impacts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences
- Effectively manage vendors involved with product integration
- Contribute to platform and application architecture standards
- Help shape long‑term technical strategy aligned with business goals
- Participate in planning, resource allocation, and budget considerations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, or similar discipline from an accredited college or university
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering and system design
- 3+ years leading or managing software engineers
- Experience in pharmacy applications or healthcare, HL7 or FHIR HealthCare Systems Interoperability is highly preferred
- Strong background in .NET/C#, API‑driven and distributed architectures
- Full‑stack experience with modern web technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)
- Hands‑on knowledge of DevOps/CI‑CD practices
- Strong understanding of software architecture, security, and integration patterns
- Proven ability to deliver projects on schedule and within scope
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
- Ability to balance delivery pressure with long‑term quality and sustainability
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, evolving environments
- Excellent communication skills across technical and business audiences
- Self‑driven, proactive, and ownership‑oriented leadership style
- Familiarity with legacy Windows applications and modernization initiatives
- Knowledge of Delphi, Power BI, ETL, Databricks, Informix, VB, PowerShell
