Ensure that the capabilities within their accountability, meet the requirements of the BtG Contract and the stated SLAs/KPIs.
Proactively manage issues, problems or changes in live services, project scope and identify potential issues by devising and implementing suitable contingency plans.
Task and manage the activity of assigned project manager(s) to deliver any new requirements or changes for the services and applications within their scope of responsibility.
Communicate effectively, in an open and engaging manner, expectations of each team member.
Support the Head of Project Management with day-to-day management of the programme, troubleshooting programme level issues, and providing delegated authority support as required.
Provide review and approval for project gate reviews as delegated by the Head of Project Management, ensuring appropriate governance and quality of deliverables.
Chair Change Board in support of project reforecasting to ensure accurate reporting at monthly SPI/CPI reviews and CAM reviews.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within their team’s responsibilities or liaise with senior management to resolve.
Proactively engage with commercial colleagues to ensure quick resolution to commercial disagreements within project and appropriate.
Close working with finance colleagues to facilitate monthly reporting and ensure correct customer invoicing, supplier payment and project closure takes place.
Chair internal and external RIO boards to ensure effective and efficient resolution or escalate as appropriate.
Interact and manage third party suppliers in conjunction with the Supply Chain Management team as necessary to achieve the service levels and the desired outcomes of the services.
Negotiate, where appropriate, with other MoD IS managers or functional / department managers for the requisition, loan of required personnel from within BDUK.
Identify and actively manage opportunities, risks and issue to produce governance inputs in accordance with the BtG Contract and weekly/monthly MoD IS operational governance regime.
Provide Project Management guidance to Project Manager’s as and when issues require escalation.
Maintain a strong customer-centric approach within the teams, actively seeking and sharing information to address customer needs and expectations; Partner with customer L5/6s weekly during drumbeat meetings.
Drive initiatives for continuous improvement, providing support and constructive feedback to team members and stakeholders to enhance collaboration and performance.
Facilitate the resolution of complex issues by implementing appropriate policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring effective tools and systems are utilized.
Requirements
Leadership experience
complex projects and/or teams.
Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
Proven experience as a people manager overseeing a team delivering large, complex IT programs/projects throughout the entire project lifecycle; Project Management experience; ideally holding a recognised technology accreditation and/or programme management accreditation with a proven track record of successfully delivering live services and projects/programmes with significant complexity and risk.
Significant experience of managing and delivering information in the Defence or Government is desirable.
Exceptional planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously under time constraints.
A working knowledge of SAFe Agile methodologies.
Strong ability to identify, build, and maintain relationships with team members, internal and external stakeholders, and cross-functional groups.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring proactive resolution of project/ programmes issues to deliver projects/programmes through lean processes and procedures.
ITIL knowledge would be desirable but not essential.
