Design DC power distribution systems incorporating DC distribution equipment such as switchgear, circuit breakers, busbars, energy storage and other power electronics devices.
Co-develop solutions with customers to ensure alignment with market needs.
Perform electrical system simulations and validate architectures through practical evaluation.
Conduct system studies (load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination) using simulation tools.
Develop and evaluate protection schemes (short-circuit analysis, coordination, etc.).
Collaborate with R&D teams responsible for developing power electronics solutions and DC equipment.
Frequently review and understand relevant standards, including those still under development, to ensure compliance and future readiness.
Requirements
5+ years in power system design, preferably DC systems
Strong knowledge of DC protection principles and emerging standards (IEC, IEEE)
Electrical system design/engineering expertise in DC distribution
Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field
Electrical system simulation expertise (MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP)
Good knowledge of power electronics, including topologies, basics of semiconductor switching and converter protection
Ability to lead technical discussions with customers and internal teams to align on requirements and solutions.
Ability to design and evaluate DC protection schemes (short-circuit analysis, coordination)
Strong understanding of industry standards, relevant organizations and ability to track evolving regulations.
