Under the general management & supervision of the GI Lab Supervisor, the Lead technician performs and supports activities in the GI Lab in reference to scheduled and unscheduled procedural case management.
Provides direction and guidance, to include all Ancillary and Ambulatory departments.
Participates as a team member by performing all GI Lab medical technician duties.
Assures all inpatient and outpatient endoscopes are available for daily cases.
Helps to develop technicians to ensure appropriate high-level disinfection, procedural preparation, and tool utilization.
Maintains endoscope fleet and tracks repairs (30%)
Ensures that all supplies are ordered and stocked in all procedure rooms (30%)
Builds technicians schedules and daily assignments (15%)
Orients and mentors new staff (15%)
Orders and stocks patient nutrition (10%)
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED Required
1-3 years experience in a GI Lab procedural setting required
1-3 years experience with high-level disinfection of endoscopes required
Licenses: BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR)
AHA
American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. One of the following preferred: CMA-Certified Medical Assistant
