Prepare molds, including bottom blocks, positioning based on ingot size to be cast, and ensuring proper alignment
Inspect mold/tooling for defects such as cracks in graphite liners or incorrect water patterns, using precision instruments to verify that they meet specifications
Assist in diagnosing and resolving issues with casting molds/tooling which affect the overall production process
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on molds/tooling and mold shop equipment, including cleaning and lubricating machines, to minimize downtime
Adhere to strict safety procedures and guidelines when working with molten metal and heavy machinery
Requirements
A minimum of 5-7 years of related machinist experience in industrial manufacturing
High school diploma or GED is required
An associate degree or vocational training for an industrial machinist preferred
Expertise in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
Proficiency with a variety of hand, power, and diagnostic tools
Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
