Support the qualification and approval of mechanical parts, including plastic, rubber, metal, die cuts and other mechanical parts using the PPAP Process.
Act as lead for Part improvement using APQP for mechanical parts, including plastic, rubber, metal and other mechanical parts.
Must be able to assess tool condition based on experience. Suggest methods to repair and estimate necessary time to perform repairs and refurbishment. Coordinate with the suppliers until task is completed.
Interact with cross functional teams to achieve tooling milestones such as, scheduled tool refurbishings, and urgent tool repairs. Capable of being proactive, but also proficiently reactive when needed.
Act as a resource to assist with quality issues within the Resideo strategic supply chain, including corrective actions and audits at suppliers.
Continue to expand knowledge to maintain expertise and be an expert for Sourcing, Engineering, and Marketing teams for assigned commodities.
Liaison with Commodity Managers, Program Managers, Quality Engineers, Design Engineers
worldwide to identify and fully satisfy requirements for quality engineering activities.
Must be capable of generating Knowledge for Resideo, provide high level (low detail) training for other engineering departments.
Must continue looking for personal growth and continue working to increase personal technical expertise.
Support department activities such as participate in projects to extend technical capabilities of the Tooling Engineering Group (Develop new capabilities such as Simulation, Mechanical Design Review, etc).
Tool Development follow up from DFM to PPAP, act as technical lead for the Tool development Projects.
Actively support Tool Management activities (Request for Information with suppliers and Tooling Database maintenance and re-development).
Requirements
3+ years of hands-on experience as a Tooling Engineer in a plastic injection molding manufacturing environment, with strong ownership of tooling design, build, validation, and launch activities (metal stamping or die casting experience is a plus).
Solid working knowledge of the PPAP process and core quality tools, including DFM/DFx, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, capability studies, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
Advanced English proficiency is required, with the ability to confidently read, write, speak, and present to cross‑functional teams, leadership, and global suppliers.
Active national passport and valid U.S. visa (B1/B2/BCC for Mexican nationals) are mandatory, with availability and willingness to travel internationally as needed.
Proven ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment, interfacing effectively with design, manufacturing, corporate teams, and external suppliers.
