Role Overview
- Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting
- Completes tasks including obtaining vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, verifying medications
- Prepares for office hours by obtaining charts, scheduling tests, and preparing exam rooms
- Assists with examinations, procedures, and lab tests
- May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders and department guidelines
- May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner
- May schedule and assign work to other Medical Assistants and assist in orientating and training new Medical Assistants
- Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner
- Monitors supply inventory and ensures compliance with regulations
- Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with three years of related work experience
- Medical Assistant credentials from in-person proctored exams from NHA, AAMA, or AMT
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or comparable allied health training program with a minimum of one year of relevant experience accepted as substitutions
- Ability to show proof of Medical Assistant certification/registration with successful completion of certification exam within six months of hire date
- Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications without a skills assessment component are not sufficient)
