Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting
Completes tasks including obtaining vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, verifying medications
Prepares for office hours by obtaining charts, scheduling tests, and preparing exam rooms
Assists with examinations, procedures, and lab tests
May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders and department guidelines
May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner
May schedule and assign work to other Medical Assistants and assist in orientating and training new Medical Assistants
Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner
Monitors supply inventory and ensures compliance with regulations
Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with three years of related work experience
Medical Assistant credentials from in-person proctored exams from NHA, AAMA, or AMT
Graduate of an accredited nursing program or comparable allied health training program with a minimum of one year of relevant experience accepted as substitutions
Ability to show proof of Medical Assistant certification/registration with successful completion of certification exam within six months of hire date
Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications without a skills assessment component are not sufficient)
